Marseille have offered Jean-Louis Gasset a short-term contract to become their new head coach, according to FootMercato.
The 70-year-old Frenchman replaces Gennaro Gattuso, who was sacked after Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Brest.
Gasset is a highly experienced coach who has previously managed Montpellier, Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux.
He is known for his ability to get the best out of his players and his teams are usually well-organized and disciplined.
Gasset will be tasked with turning around Marseille’s fortunes.
The team are currently in seventh place in Ligue 1 and have not won a trophy since 2012.
Gasset has signed a contract until the end of the season.
If he is successful, he could be offered a longer deal in the summer.
