Laporta has already informed Flick that he will be Barcelona’s coach

The selection of Hansi Flick as the new coach of FC Barcelona is now a reality. All indications point in the same direction. The latest comes from ‘Jijantes FC,’ which has revealed a call from Joan Laporta to the manager of the coach confirming the decision.

According to the mentioned source, the president has reached out to Pini Zahavi to inform him that the die is cast. Xavi Hernández will not continue in the dugout, and Hansi Flick is the chosen one.

Laporta has thus closed the coach casting once he made the decision to part ways with Xavi. Hansi Flick and Rafa Márquez were the two main candidates, and the president has ultimately opted for the experienced 59-year-old German coach.

Xavi’s Last Dance

Therefore, Xavi will manage his final match as FC Barcelona’s coach this Sunday in Seville after two and a half seasons leading the club.

Laporta aims to turn the tide after a trophyless season and witnessing the team’s inability to compete for major titles.

Flick comes with the endorsement of his many years of work in the German Football Association, from the youth categories to the senior team, and the historic sextuple he achieved with Bayern Munich in 2020.

Barcelona wants to soar again, and Laporta believes that Flick, also sought after in the Premier League by Chelsea, is the ideal coach for the job.
