The German goalkeeper, who is currently on loan at Stuttgart, has told Bayern that he will only sign a new contract if he is guaranteed to be the number one goalkeeper, according to Sky Sport Germany.
Nübel has been in impressive form for Stuttgart this season, keeping 10 clean sheets in 23 appearances.
His performances have led to calls for him to be given the number one spot at Bayern ahead of Manuel Neuer.
However, Neuer is still considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world and is not ready to give up his place in the team.
This has led to a stand-off between Nübel and Bayern, with the player refusing to sign a new contract unless he is given the number one spot.
Bayern are keen to resolve the situation and are willing to offer Nübel a new contract with a significant pay rise.
However, they are not willing to guarantee him the number one spot, which is what the player is demanding.
Nübel is under contract at Bayern until 2025 and could leave the club on a free transfer if he does not sign a new deal.
Stuttgart are interested in keeping Nübel on loan for another season. This would give the player the chance to continue playing regularly and develop his game.
It remains to be seen whether Bayern will be able to resolve the situation with Nübel. If they cannot, they could be forced to sell him in the summer.
