Reports from England suggest that the Dutch manager, devastated by his recent dismissal from Manchester United, has sought solace at his parents’ home in the Netherlands.
English media outlets report that Erik Ten Hag, devastated by his recent dismissal from Manchester United, has sought refuge and comfort at his parents’ home in the Netherlands, leaving his wife and children behind in Manchester. Two and a half years after arriving at Old Trafford, his dreams were cut short and he now needs time to recover emotionally.
The ‘Daily Mail’ reports that Ten Hag took a private plane to Amsterdam and then traveled to his second home in the small town of Oldenzaal, with a population of 31,000. In his hometown, the former successful Ajax coach feels more at ease, where he is comforted by his parents, Hennie and Joke.
“It’s no surprise they went there. They are a close family and his parents are very supportive. Everyone in Oldenzaal is very proud of him. He can relax and feel that his privacy is respected there. It’s probably very different to Manchester and that’s probably why he was in such a hurry to get there,” a neighbor of the manager told the ‘Daily Mail’. According to the newspaper, Ten Hag went straight to the airport after receiving the news on Monday.
His wife Bianca and their three children remained in Manchester to organize all the logistics and sell their Cheshire home before reuniting with their husband in the Netherlands.
