João Félix Returns to Chelsea and Leaves Atlético de Madrid Permanently

It’s now official and final. João Félix is back at Chelsea following an agreement with Atlético de Madrid for his transfer for €50 million, plus €10 million in bonuses.

Six seasons after being signed from Benfica for €126 million, João Félix has left Atlético de Madrid.

The Portuguese international has returned to Chelsea, where he was loaned for less than six months by the Colchoneros, scoring four goals in 20 matches in 2023.

After his stint in London, he returned to Spain, to FC Barcelona, as he had hoped. His time with the Blaugrana was inconsistent, with 44 appearances, 10 goals, and 6 assists, but it ended at the conclusion of his loan.

He was used during pre-season in Madrid and even impressed, but the desire of all parties was to end a relationship that had not yielded the expected results.

The agreement between Chelsea and Atlético de Madrid for the sale of Conor Gallagher to the Colchoneros therefore opened a door for the Portuguese, who joins the overcrowded Blues dressing room to finally find his place. At Stamford Bridge, he will reunite with his compatriots Pedro Neto and Renato Veiga.

At Atlético, João Félix played 131 matches, scored 34 goals, and provided 16 assists.
