Girona submits bid for Abel Ruiz

After a remarkable season securing Champions League qualification, Girona has already commenced preparations for a highly demanding upcoming campaign. The Girona side will face three competitions and, in this regard, aims to construct a squad with assurances.

The attacking department is one area that the team requires reinforcement. With the continuity of Artem Dovbyk hanging in the balance due to intense interest from multiple European clubs, and Stuani occupying a clear backup striker role, the Catalan sporting director is actively seeking a player capable of filling various positions within the Girona attack.

According to media outlet ‘maisfutebol’, Girona has presented an offer of nine million euros plus variables for Abel Ruiz. The Valencian forward has completed a successful season at SC Braga in Portugal, establishing himself as a crucial member of Rui Duarte’s team. Despite not experiencing his most prolific goalscoring campaign, he has managed to find the net on eight occasions and provided three assists.

However, the Portuguese club is reportedly demanding a minimum of 15 million to sell their striker. Abel Ruiz, who progressed through the FC Barcelona youth academy until 2019, possesses experience in Europe, having featured in both the Champions League and Europa League, a factor that could prove instrumental in his potential move to Girona.
