Signing bonus, salary, presentation: the details of Kylian Mbappé’s transfer to Real Madrid revealed

Real Madrid wins the Champions League and can now officially announce Mbappé's signing

Real Madrid concluded another magnificent season by winning the Champions League for the 15th time in their history. To celebrate this title, as well as the one they won in La Liga, the Merengues paraded through the streets of Madrid on Sunday.

But one of the most talked-about topics among fans was undoubtedly the imminent officialization of Kylian Mbappé’s transfer to Real Madrid. In recent days, the Spanish press, as well as transfer specialists, have been quick to announce the upcoming signing of the French star, probably on Monday or Tuesday. That is before the French national team plays its first warm-up match for the Euros, against Luxembourg, on Wednesday.

While waiting for the officialization of the most anticipated transfer of the summer, some details of Kylian Mbappé’s contract have leaked. According to AS, the final documents were signed in recent days for a five-year contract and the now former PSG player will receive a net salary of around 15 million euros.

This is a much lower amount than the first offer made by Real Madrid in June 2022, according to Fabrizio Romano. But he should still be the highest-paid Real player, just above the two other stars of the team, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior.

In addition, Mbappé will retain about 80% of his image rights, an exceptional favor granted by Real Madrid management, according to AFP.

While AS explains that the amount of the signing bonus has not been disclosed, Fabrizio Romano speaks of a sum of 100 million euros spread over the five years of his contract.

A grand presentation… after the Euros

But while the officialization of the transfer will take place in the coming hours, Madrid fans will have to wait a while before they can see Mbappé in a Real Madrid shirt on the pitch of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Due to the approaching Euro 2024, the official presentation of the player will not take place until mid-July.

AS is already announcing a “global and galactic” ceremony, estimating that the Bernabeu will be full (or almost full) for this presentation, which has become a tradition at the Madrid club in recent years.
