Sevilla FC have announced the appointment of a new coach in the person of Francisco Garcia Pimienta, who this season was in charge of the Spanish team Las Palmas.
“We have reached an agreement with Garcia Pimienta to become our first team head coach for the 2024-25 season, with an option for a further year,” said the Andalusian club in a statement.
Sevilla FC, who finished a modest 14th in La Liga, had announced last month the departure of coach Quique Sanchez, after only six months on the bench. Before him, José Luis Mendilibar and then Diego Alonso had been sacked by the Andalusian club.
A former coach of the FC Barcelona reserves, Garcia Pimienta, 49, had a good first part of the season with Las Palmas before finishing with a series of 14 matches without a win. The Canary Islands team thus finished 16th in La Liga (out of 20), synonymous with staying up.
