In the event that Hansi Flick is ultimately chosen to coach FC Barcelona next season, the German would reunite with Robert Lewandowski. Both cherish fond memories of their time together.
Throughout his long and fruitful sporting career, Lewy has been under the guidance of a total of 14 club coaches. Some, fleeting, like Peter Hermann or Willy Sagnol (just one match), and others, with long-term relationships. The most notable case is that of Jürgen Klopp, who coached the Polish marksman in 187 matches, all at Borussia Dortmund. With Guardiola at Bayern, Lewandowski reached a milestone: 100 matches, and then came Xavi Hernández, with 94.
Nagelsmann, the second
Robert Lewandowski has scored plenty of goals, but of all his coaches, the Warsaw ‘killer’ has the best goalscoring average with Hansi Flick. In other words, the candidate for the Blaugrana bench has benefited the most from the forward, with whom he shared many victories.
Flick has coached Robert Lewandowski in a total of 71 official matches (spread across 6,187 minutes), in which the Pole scored no less than 83 goals. That is, his average was 1.10 goals per match.
Only with two coaches has Lewandowski surpassed the goal per game mark. Besides Flick, the other has been Julian Nagelsmann, who was also in the orbit of Barça. In his case, 50 goals in 46 matches (1.08 on average).
Two successful seasons
Flick and Lewy coincided at Bayern Munich for 2 seasons: 2019/2020 and 2020/2021. In addition to the 83 goals in 71 matches, the Pole provided 22 assists. He received 8 yellow cards and was never sent off. Among the numerous titles won, the Champions League of 19/20 stands out.
With Xavi Hernández, and despite the passing years, Lewy has maintained his scoring instinct, especially in the first of the 2 seasons, but with significantly lower averages than with Flick. The Catalan has coached Lewy for 94 matches, in which the Warsaw native has celebrated 58 goals. Therefore, his goalscoring average is 0.61.
