The Arab temptation resurfaces for Max Allegri, a déjà vu after concrete advances were already made last summer. Indeed, around this time last year, the first rumours of interest in Allegri emerged. As reported by the Spanish outlet Marca, there seems to be an offer from Al-Ittihad, intending to entrust Allegri with the team after the current season in the Saudi Pro League is ending disappointingly.
From mere speculations, a concrete approach had been made, with a meeting in Monte Carlo with emissaries from the Saudi Football Federation. The initial offer to the coach was a three-year contract worth £20 million per season, with Al-Hilal and Al-Ahly Saudi vying for his services. The counteroffer didn’t take long to arrive: £30 million annually, again for three years.
Despite the tempting millions, Allegri chose to remain with the Bianconeri, unconvinced by what is undeniably a significant life choice. Despite the mountain of money offered, his preference has always remained with Juventus. Now, he has been shown the door by the Old Lady – although the official details of the end of the relationship have yet to be outlined – and Max can once again contemplate the Arab prospect. A substantial offer might console him after the bitter end of his long adventure with Juventus.
