Real Madrid Recalls Emmanuel Macron Again

Following recent rumors suggesting the possibility of Kylian Mbappé participating in the Olympic Games after a meeting between Emmanuel Macron and Florentino Perez, Real Madrid wasted no time in denying the claims.

Kylian Mbappé is undeniably a player who constantly grabs headlines, sometimes unwittingly. After numerous rumors and debates about his future and his arrival at Real Madrid, attention now turns to discussions about his participation in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. For several years, the French star has expressed his desire to compete in this unique competition. However, over the months, he seemed less categorical about his willingness to participate in the Olympics and explained that the final decision would be up to his employer at that time (ultimately, Real Madrid).

The Spanish institution left no room for doubt on this matter, as it had already been categorical a few weeks ago: it will not release any players to participate in the Olympic Games, a stance conveyed to the French Football Federation through a letter. Since the competition does not fall under FIFA dates, clubs can refuse to release their players without facing any sanctions. This is a significant setback for Thierry Henry, who must now compose his squad under these constraints and without Kylian Mbappé. At least for now, as French President Emmanuel Macron has been pushing for weeks to persuade the Merengues to change their minds.

Real Madrid Will Make No Exceptions

Naturally, Mbappé’s presence at the Paris Olympics transcends the sporting realm as he represents much more. After making numerous public statements expressing his hope to see KM7 this summer, Emmanuel Macron took advantage of a dinner organized for the 120th anniversary of FIFA in Paris this Tuesday evening to discuss with Florentino Perez. The president of Real Madrid was seated at the same table as Emmanuel Macron and Thierry Henry, and the topic was broached. While initial reports from this private discussion suggested that “the doors are not closed,” Real Madrid has quickly cooled down the speculation.

Indeed, overnight, internal sources from the club moved to deny these emerging rumors. According to El Partezo on Cadena COPE, sources within the Madrid club are convinced that Kylian Mbappé will not compete in the Olympics with France. He is expected to join the Real Madrid pre-season with Carlo Ancelotti in August. Especially since the Merengues will embark on a summer tour, which would be much more appealing with Kylian Mbappé. Internally, Real Madrid has made it clear that there will be no exceptions for the current PSG forward and that he will not be treated “as someone special.” The message has been relayed: Real Madrid has no intention of changing its stance and does not want to entertain the idea of special treatment slipping through.
