An encounter that unfolded in a two-legged tie, with both clubs securing 3-0 victories. The tie was then decided by a penalty shootout, with the Germans prevailing 2-3 over the Spaniards.

Interestingly, Leverkusen won the competition while Switzerland won the Eurovision Song Contest with Céline Dion as their representative. This year, Switzerland has once again won the Eurovision Contest, leading some to see it as a sign of Leverkusen’s new triumph on the European stage.

It remains to be seen whether Xabi Alonso’s men will etch their names in history or if Gasperini’s team will defy the odds. For Atalanta, there’s a unique opportunity to secure a trophy this season, and the club won’t let it slip away after already losing the Coppa Italia final to Juventus.
