Brighton & Hove Albio vs Chelsea: Predicted Lineups

It’s a clash between contrasting emotions on the south coast on Wednesday night. Brighton, still smarting from missing out on European football, host a Chelsea side buzzing after a recent win and the return of key players.

The Blues secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest at the weekend, while the Seagulls were left frustrated after conceding a late equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Newcastle.

Brighton’s woes deepened with a knock to defender Veltman, though he should be okay for the game. However, they’ll be without the attacking talents of Joao Pedro (ankle) and Julio Enciso, who both picked up knocks in training.

The injury list for the Seagulls is lengthy, with Solly March, Kaoru Mitoma, Jack Hinshelwood, Pervis Estupinan, James Milner, Evan Ferguson and Jan Paul van Hecke all sidelined. This could see Tariq Lamptey starting against his former club, Chelsea, where he only made a handful of appearances.

Thankfully for Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino, his squad is looking much healthier. While Ben Chilwell, Robert Sanchez, Carney Chukwuemeka, Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana and Enzo Fernandez remain out, key players like captain Reece James are back in contention.

With a quick turnaround and several players returning from injury, Pochettino is likely to rotate his squad. Expect to see Raheem Sterling, Malo Gusto and Axel Disasi pushing for starting spots, but James might be eased back in slowly after his recent injury.

Here’s a possible look at how the teams might line up:

Brighton & Hove Albion (Possible): Verbruggen; Lamptey, Dunk, Webster, Igor; Gilmour, Gross; Adingra, Buonanotte, Fati; Welbeck

Chelsea (Possible): Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Badiashile, Cucurella; Caicedo, Gallagher; Sterling, Palmer, Mudryk; Jackson
