Barcelona racing against time to secure Dani Olmo’s signature

Dani Olmo’s (25) future at RB Leipzig appears to be at a crossroads, with a strategically placed release clause looming large this summer. Despite renewing his contract last season with the promise of a winning project and a prominent role in the team, the Spanish forward made sure to protect his options with a €60 million release clause in case the club’s promises fell short.

Leipzig’s management was initially reluctant to include this clause, but eventually gave in to Olmo’s insistence. However, they set a deadline of July 15th, coinciding with the Euro 2020 final, for any interested team to make a decision.

Barcelona have emerged as a potential candidate to secure Olmo’s services, according to Fichajes. With former player Deco leading talks with the player’s representatives, the Blaugrana are determined to act quickly. Despite competition from other top clubs in the Premier League and Bundesliga, Barcelona are confident that its historic connection with the player and his entourage will give them an edge in the negotiations.

Olmo’s agents are hoping that Leipzig, given their good relationship with them, will be willing to offer payment terms to Barcelona to reach the asking price. While the Germans have taken a firm stance on the price, they seem willing to cooperate within certain limits.

With the clock ticking and international competition mounting, Barcelona are in a race against time to secure the services of the talented Spanish forward.
