Final result: Salernitana-Atalanta 1-2

Salernitana player ratings

Fiorillo 6 – Not at fault for the two goals, rarely tested by the Atalanta attackers, but defends his goal area well.

Pasalidis 6 – Holds his ground well on his side without taking major risks. Apart from a few runs by Lookman, he manages well with good timing choices. From the 46th minute, Pellegrino 4.5 – On the second Atalanta goal, clears the ball poorly, giving possession to the opponents and paving the way for Koopmeiners’ goal.

Fazio 6 – Scamacca has another gear and it shows when he speeds up, but Fazio uses his experience to make the most of his physicality. He averts a couple of tricky situations thanks to his good positioning.

Pirola 5 – Yet another lapse when he is found in culpable delay against Scamacca during Atalanta’s equalizer. A forgettable second half of the season personally for the Inter academy central defender.

Sambia 5.5 – Mixes in some good runs with moments of fatigue. Provides the right support in the first half, but fades in the second half. Overpowered in the aerial play by Pasalic during Atalanta’s equalizer. From the 69th minute, Zanoli 5 – Comes on during a tough phase and doesn’t make much impact. Some runs down the wing and not much else.

Tchaouna 6.5 – One of the few to defend the honor, the Frenchman finds the fourth goal in Serie A with a well-angled left foot, while in the end he almost touches the draw. There are no lack of admirers for the former Lille player, capable of showing good technical skills even in such a complex season.

Basic 5 – Another dull and colorless performance for the one who, in intentions, should have led the Granata midfield. Often out of the maneuver, it never takes off.

Coulibaly 5.5 – Misses many balls, but at least does not lack intensity and competitiveness. In the second half, he has a good ball in the area, but loses the moment.

Bradaric 5 – Remains blocked throughout the game to contain Hateboer and Miranchuk who, however, constantly slip past him. He often finds himself chasing. From 77′ Sfait sv

Vignato 6 – He doesn’t have the full 90 minutes in his legs, but some of his plays in tight spaces reveal all his untapped talent. His assist for Tchaouna. From 69′ Legowski 5 – Inconsistent, loses many duels.

Ikwuemesi 5 – Absent presence at the Arechi. The Nigerian engages in physical battles, but hardly ever sees the ball. From 60′ Weissman 5 – In the second half, he has a great chance for the equalizer on his right, but gets blocked.

Coach – Stefano Colantuono 6 – The team holds up for an hour against a much higher caliber opponent and stays in the game until the end. Already a good result for a team in tatters.

Atalanta player ratings

Carnesecchi 6 – Inactive until Tchaouna’s winning diagonal shot, the only shot of the first half, which he couldn’t do much about. In the second half, he denies him a brace.

De Roon 6 – Positions himself on the right of the back three and initially wobbles a bit on that side, getting taken for a ride on the goal. Then he regains composure.

Hien 5.5 – Playing a high defensive line is a must in Zingonia, where distractions are not allowed: he still needs to work on a few repetitions. Doesn’t step up in time to stop Tchaouna, who struggles throughout the game.

Scalvini 6 – Struggles a bit with the Torino speedsters’ sprints, but doesn’t give in. The substitution is purely for tactical reasons. From the 46th minute, Ruggeri 6.5 – One of the key additions for the comeback: not just a pushing winger, he also handles himself well in defense.

Hateboer 6.5 – Starts off okay, improves as the minutes pass, getting forward more often and acting as a human shield, with a crucial save on the goal line.

Ederson 5.5 – Fatal misunderstanding with Lookman, losing the ball carelessly leading to Salernitana’s counterattack goal. From the 46th minute, Koopmeiners 7.5 – Clear ideas, quick execution: outstanding assist for the equalizer, powerful shot for the 2-1 lead. Unstoppable, shifts the momentum of the game.

Pasalic 6.5 – In the first half, the penalty area is busier than rush hour traffic, but he finds space and sets up Scamacca when the traffic eases.

Zappacosta 6 – Slow start: could take more risks as Sambia doesn’t seem solid defensively. Regains composure with experience.

Miranchuk 5.5 – Moves around the attacking midfield, but struggles to make the right plays. Gives Fiorillo a scare early on, but lacks sharpness in the second attempt. From the 46th minute, De Ketelaere 6 – Adds a different dynamic, bursts forward freely.

Lookman 6.5 – Constant movement to create space, finds it wide on the left: beats his man consistently, although misses two clear chances, especially the first one. Touré came on in the 80th minute.

Scamacca 7 – Key player in the build-up, every touch he makes poses a threat. Sets up Miranchuk and Lookman well. Finds it easy against Fazio, equalizes with a poacher’s finish. 10 goals in the last 12 games: in top form currently. Djimsiti came on in the 80th minute.

Coach – Gian Piero Gasperini 6.5 – Marks his 300th Serie A game on Atalanta’s bench in a match that seemed predictable but turned out tougher than expected. Changes the game with substitutions after a lacklustre start. Ties with Roma with a game in hand: Champions League getting closer.
