Bilal El Khannouss attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig

Shortlisted for the Ebony Shoe, an award honouring the best African-origin player of the season in the Jupiler Pro League, Bilal El Khannouss has seen his efforts duly recognised. Featuring in 48 matches – across all competitions – for KRC Genk this season, the Moroccan international (12 caps) has been pivotal on 11 occasions, netting 8 goals and providing 3 assists.

Despite having three years left on his contract with the Belgian club (until 2027), his departure seems to be a matter of weeks. Several Bundesliga clubs have reportedly set their sights on the Atlas Lion and are expected to make moves swiftly.

Bilal El Khannouss-Leipzig: Mutual Interest

According to Sports Zone, Borussia Dortmund and, notably, RB Leipzig are eyeing the 19-year-old attacking midfielder. The Bulls’ management has already initiated contact with the player’s agent, who happens to be his mother.

Meanwhile, as disclosed by Foot Mercato, he sees Leipzig as the ideal destination for his career development. Among other interested clubs, Bayer Leverkusen, fresh off their German championship triumph, has also shown interest. However, the Moroccan doesn’t seem to be a top priority for bolstering Xabi Alonso’s team.
