AC Milan: Theo Hernandez subjected to mockery as Italy reacts

During the celebrations of the Italian championship title on Sunday, Denzel Dumfries proudly displayed a sign featuring the face of Frenchman Theo Hernandez superimposed on the body of a dog. This incident likely stems from several tense encounters between the two players. Consequently, the Inter Milan right-back finds himself in the sights of the Italian judiciary.

Following Kylian Mbappé’s ridicule by Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez after the 2022 World Cup final, another player from the French team faced derogatory treatment during festivities. This time, it was Theo Hernandez who fell victim to Denzel Dumfries’ inappropriate behaviour. Inter was celebrating its Italian championship title in the streets of Milan on Sunday when the full-back grabbed a sign.

Fans of the GTA V video game probably recognized the altered poster, featuring the head of AC Milan’s left-back on the body of a Rottweiler being held on a leash by the Dutchman. Proudly, Denzel Dumfries didn’t hesitate to display this image during his team’s bus parade. It’s worth mentioning that a sort of rivalry has developed between the two men. Since their first encounter during the 2021-2022 season, the two opponents have regularly engaged in physical and verbal altercations.

Things heated up even further during last Monday’s derby, which Inter won 2-1, where both players were sent off after a confrontation towards the end of the match. However, for the Italian judiciary, this context does not serve as a valid excuse. Denzel Dumfries finds himself in the crosshairs of the federal prosecutor’s office following his misconduct, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport. While awaiting the outcome of this matter, one can already anticipate the next encounter between the Frenchman and the Dutchman, who will be facing each other as opponents in the Euro group stage this summer.
