FC Bayern eye young midfielder Ouedraogo, but coaching uncertainty stalls deal

FC Bayern Munich remains keen on signing 17-year-old midfielder Assan Ouedraogo from Schalke 04. The Bavarians have reportedly offered Ouedraogo a contract until 2029, but the deal is currently on hold, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The holdup seems to be on Ouedraogo’s side. With Bayern yet to announce a permanent successor to current manager Thomas Tuchel, the young midfielder is hesitant to commit. Ouedraogo wants assurances he’ll fit into the plans of the new boss, and without that certainty, he’s reluctant to sign.

This has opened the door for other clubs to swoop in. RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, Atalanta, Roma, and even Newcastle United are all reportedly interested in securing Ouedraogo’s signature.

It will be interesting to see how this saga unfolds. Bayern clearly sees Ouedraogo as a future star, but the lack of a permanent manager throws a wrench into their plans. Ouedraogo, meanwhile, has a wealth of options on the table and will likely wait to see who Bayern appoint before making a decision.
