Real Madrid sweating over Federico Valverde injury

Real Madrid continued their march towards the La Liga title on Sunday night with a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao at home. The Merengues now have nine days to prepare for their Champions League quarter-final clash against Manchester City. However, they could be without Federico Valverde for the tie.

The 25-year-old midfielder was forced off injured in the 80th minute of the game, making way for Eduardo Camavinga, who himself had just returned from injury.

However, as Relevo points out, there may be more fear than harm for the Uruguayan. He sat on the bench after his substitution, not being treated by the doctors. Carlo Ancelotti nevertheless cast doubt after the match: “Valverde received a blow. We now have two days of rest. He played his game, not with the intensity he usually has, but after the break, it’s a bit more complicated,” said the Italian coach.
