Adrien Rabiot criticizes France’s mentality after defeat to Germany

Adrien Rabiot has criticized the mentality of the French national team after their 2-0 defeat to Germany.

The Juventus midfielder did not mince his words after the French team’s disappointing performance, pointing to a lack of fighting spirit.

Didier Deschamps had surely imagined a better scenario than what the Blues offered in their 2-0 defeat to Germany on Saturday night. In their first warm-up match before the Euro in Germany, the French failed to scare their future hosts at the Parc OL and returned to Clairefontaine with their heads down.

Completely overwhelmed in all areas of the game, as evidenced by the first goal conceded from the kick-off, the French team was particularly poor in midfield. This is at least what Adrien Rabiot noted, who observed a constant numerical superiority of the Mannschaft in midfield when debriefing the match.

“It’s better that it happens tonight”

“My mixed feelings? No, not mixed, we’re disappointed, we should have done better, it’s a friendly ok, it’s still a great team but more than the technical mistakes, it’s especially the state of mind that was not good tonight and that’s what happened.

“It was complicated, they had a lot of players in midfield and attackers who dropped back, we often found ourselves outnumbered, in terms of the group tonight, we were not good in intensity, technically we can compete with this German team and other teams but the state of mind was not good.

“It’s better that it happens tonight, it was an important match but not a crucial one, we could have done much better, it allows us to keep our feet on the ground but we have to react from Tuesday, especially in terms of the state of mind, to be more aggressive, more combative in the duels and to go forward.”
