Real Madrid eyes Xabi Alonso as potential manager, says Bayern Munich Honorary President

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has revealed that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has a long-term goal of signing Xabi Alonso as the club’s manager.

Hoeness made the claim in an interview with Ran Sports, saying: “Clubs like Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are working on signing Xabi Alonso.”

The Spanish coach is currently in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, and has been praised for his work at the Bundesliga club. However, it is believed that he is seen as a potential successor to Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

Ancelotti is currently under contract at Real Madrid until 2024, but it is not clear whether he will extend his stay at the club. If he does not, Alonso could be an option to replace him.

Alonso has a good relationship with Real Madrid, having played for the club from 2009 to 2014. He is also a popular figure among the club’s fans.

However, it is important to note that Alonso is not the only candidate to replace Ancelotti. Other potential candidates include Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, and Julian Nagelsmann.

Ultimately, the decision of who will replace Ancelotti will be made by Florentino Perez. However, Hoeness’s comments suggest that Alonso is a serious contender for the job.
