Juventus could extend Carlos Alcaraz loan from Southampton

Carlos Alcaraz’s future in Turin might hinge on whether Southampton can seal their return to the Premier League. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are keen to extend the Argentine midfielder’s loan for another season.

The 2 (or add specific age if available) year-old arrived on loan in January with an option to buy, but at a hefty €49.5 million price tag. While Juve are impressed with Alcaraz’s performances in his limited Serie A appearances (including a start), that price tag seems a bit steep right now.

So, the Italian giants might be looking at another loan deal instead. This would likely only happen if Southampton fall short in their promotion bid. The Saints are currently in the playoff zone (4th place) but have a significant gap to bridge to automatic promotion (9 points behind Leicester City, though with a game in hand).

It’s still early days, and Juventus won’t make any official moves until the season ends. But one thing’s for sure: Alcaraz’s future in Turin is likely tied to Southampton’s Premier League ambitions.
