Álvaro Morata is set to leave Atlético Madrid at the end of the season, a decision made by the sporting director Andrea Berta. Despite being a regular in Diego Simeone’s squad, Morata’s inconsistency has been evident this season, and the former Real Madrid Castilla player has not stood out in big games.
The club’s management knows that it is time to cash in on the player, as at 31 years old, the striker will sign the last big contract of his career. In principle, his continuity in Spain is ruled out, and it seems that his return to Italy is the most likely option.
Juventus and Inter Milan have both shown interest in the Spanish international, but the latter seem to have a slight advantage. Right now, there is a good chance that Lautaro Martínez will leave on loan, with Atlético Madrid still bidding for him, and it is not even ruled out that Morata could enter the operation.
In any case, the ‘colchoneros’ hope to get at least €25 million for the transfer, but everything indicates that it will be a move that will be delayed until the end of the summer.
