Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has suffered another injury, just days before he was due to return to action.
The Belgian international has been ruled out for two months with a torn meniscus in his right knee.
Courtois was injured during training on Tuesday and will undergo surgery in the coming days.
The 30-year-old has been out of action since September with a similar injury.
His latest setback is a major blow to Real Madrid, who are chasing the La Liga title and the Champions League.
Andriy Lunin to step in
Andriy Lunin will deputize for Courtois in goal for Real Madrid.
The Ukrainian international has made just two appearances for the club this season, but he has impressed in those games.
Lunin will now have the chance to prove himself as a capable No. 1 goalkeeper.
Real Madrid are currently in second place in La Liga, two points behind Barcelona.
They have a game in hand on their rivals, but they will need to win all of their remaining matches to have a chance of winning the title.
Real Madrid are also through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they will face Chelsea.
Courtois’s injury is a major blow to their hopes of winning the European Cup for a 14th time.
