Serie A: Napoli snatch dramatic late draw against Inter Milan

In a thrilling Serie A clash, Napoli fought back from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw against league leaders Inter Milan at the San Siro. This result halts Inter’s impressive run of 10 consecutive league victories.

Both teams, still reeling from their midweek Champions League exits, started brightly but struggled to create clear-cut chances. Inter dominated possession in the first half, but Napoli’s veteran defender Juan Jesus stood out. He combined brilliantly with Olivera to thwart Thuram early on, then made a crucial tackle on Lautaro Martinez to prevent him connecting with Dimarco’s dangerous cross. Jesus continued to be a thorn in Inter’s side, clearing another Dimarco delivery. However, Inter took the lead just before halftime. Darmian swept home a deflected cross from Bastoni, with a slight touch from Olivera making it even harder for Meret in the Napoli goal.

The second half saw Napoli desperately searching for an equalizer. Still without their injured striker Osimhen, they struggled to create chances initially. Inter continued to threaten, with Meret making a superb save from Lautaro and tipping another Dimarco effort behind. Thuram also wasted two good opportunities from close range. Just when it seemed Inter would secure the win, Jesus rose to haunt his former club. In the 81st minute, he nodded home at the back post after a flick-on from Bastoni following Politano’s corner.

Inter pushed for a late winner but couldn’t find a breakthrough. This draw extends Napoli’s unbeaten run in Serie A under their new manager Calzona to five games (two wins and three draws). They will look to build on this momentum when they host Atalanta at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona before the international break. Meanwhile, Inter will be aiming to get back on track when they host Empoli on Easter Monday.
