Roma 1-0 Sassuolo: Player Ratings

Man of the Match: Pellegrini (8)

From the first minutes he ensured Roma’s control of the match with his excellent reading of the game. He then initiated several dangerous moves and finally scored a superb goal that unlocked a particularly closed game. Roma won three good points to hope to play in a European competition, thanks to their captain.

Roma (4-3-3)

Svilar (6): He was there when needed and made a few interventions.

Karsdorp (6): He controlled his wing and, without particularly shining, was perfectly concentrated and did what was necessary. He was replaced by Celik in the 70th minute.

Mancini (6.5): He had a very good performance and brought a lot of solidity to the Roman defence.

Llorente (5.5): Alongside Mancini, he ensured perfect control of Roma’s defensive phase, which was only rarely worried by their opponents tonight. However, he took a huge risk at the very end of the match, which could have cost them more.

Spinazzola (not rated): He started the match well but had to leave after half an hour due to an injury to Angelino (6) who had a satisfactory match.

Cristante (6): He was clean and attentive and managed to control the Roman midfield, a precious quality in this rather closed match.

Paredes (6.5): Since De Rossi took over, he has regained confidence and brought real solidity to the midfield. Sassuolo had a hard time playing their game.

Pellegrini (8): See above.

Aouar (5.5): He tried a few good things but didn’t find the back of the net tonight. Well watched by the Sassuolo defence, he had very little impact. Baldanzi took his place in the 70th minute.

Lukaku (4.5): Particularly closely followed by the opposing defence, he had no way to express himself tonight and failed to make the difference. He was replaced by Azmoun in the 86th minute.

El Shaarawy (6): He had a generous match and did not spare his efforts even in the defensive phase. Huijsen took his place in the 86th minute.

Sassuolo (4-2-3-1)

Consigli (5.5): He could do nothing about Roma’s goal and made more than one save.

Pedersen (5.5): Despite the defeat, he ensured Roma’s good defensive phase, which had to rely on the creativity of their captain to find the breakthrough.

Erlic (6): No points won tonight, but the Neroverde defence put up a good show and greatly limited the impact of Roma in a match that was far from a foregone conclusion.

Ferrari (6): Like his teammates, he was impeccable and made the Romans seriously doubt themselves tonight.

Viti (6): He was solid in the defensive phase and did not hesitate to offer himself when Sassuolo projected themselves forward. Ruan replaced him in the 86th minute.

Racic (5): A few good initiatives, and then nothing much. He had a hard time outclassing the opposing defence. Bajrami took his place in the 74th minute.

Obiang (5): Despite his undeniable work, he was unable to impose himself against a well-organized Roma. He gave way to Volpato in the 70th minute.

Defrel (5): His impact was very limited tonight and despite his efforts, he did not bring much. Boloca took his place in the 70th minute.

Matheus Henrique (6): Also very present when it comes to hampering Roma’s attempts to impose their game, he is definitely one of the most active players on the Sassuolo side.

Laurienté (4.5): He missed a lot of what he tried tonight and despite a few good moments in the second half, he never really worried the Romans.

Pinamonti (4.5): He was unable to get rid of his opponent tonight and could not express himself. Mulattieri took his place in the 79th minute.
