FC Nantes sack Jocelyn Gourvennec, appoint Antoine Kombouaré as new manager

FC Nantes have sacked Jocelyn Gourvennec after a 1-3 defeat to Strasbourg. The Canaries are currently in 16th place in Ligue 1, just three points above the relegation zone.

Gourvennec was appointed in November 2022, replacing Antoine Kombouaré. However, he has only managed to win four of his 26 games in charge, with 10 defeats and 1 draw.

Kombouaré has been re-appointed as manager on a short-term deal until the end of the season. He will be tasked with keeping Nantes in Ligue 1.

The 60-year-old previously managed Nantes from 2021 to 2022, leading the club to a 17th-place finish in Ligue 1. He is known for his ability to get the best out of his players and has a good track record of keeping teams up.

Kombouaré’s return to Nantes has been met with mixed reactions. Some fans are happy to see him back, while others believe that he is not the right man to save the club from relegation.

Only time will tell whether Kombouaré can be successful in his second spell as Nantes manager. However, he will need to get his players to perform at a higher level if they are to avoid the drop.
