Osasuna vs Real Madrid Preview: Team news, stats and prediction

Osasuna’s four-game unbeaten streak in La Liga (3W, 1D) was ended by Girona last weekend (2-0 L), and their struggles against top-flight teams continued – they have still not taken a single point this season against a team that started the matchday in the top five (7L).

That does not bode well for the visit of leaders Real Madrid, especially as “Los Rojillos” have not won any of their last 20 head-to-head meetings (5D, 15L)!

However, Jagoba Arrasate’s men have only lost one of their last eight league games at home (5W, 2D), so they are difficult to beat at El Sadar, where four of those victories have been accompanied by a clean sheet.

However, the task is made more difficult by the injury to Aimar Oroz, who is expected to miss Saturday’s game.

Real Madrid will be without the injured David Alaba, Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, as well as Jude Bellingham, who is suspended for two games after his red card against Valencia.

For Carlo Ancelotti, Sunday’s 4-0 win over Celta Vigo saw the Madridistas open up a seven-point lead at the top of the table, with Arda Güler scoring his first goal for the club.

“Los Blancos” are unbeaten in ten away league games (6W, 4D) and are therefore clear favorites, even though they have drawn their last two away games, finishing both games with ten men.

They have not drawn three consecutive away games in La Liga since the 2017/18 season, so they will need to be more disciplined if they are to repeat the reverse fixture, a 4-0 win in October!

Key Battle: Unai Garcia opened the scoring for Osasuna against Real Madrid in 2019/20 and also scored the first goal in the game against Las Palmas last month (1-1). He will probably be more occupied here trying to prevent Vinicius Junior from adding to his tally of four goals in Real Madrid’s last three games, although he has been booked in each of those three games.

Hot stat: Real Madrid have scored at least twice in their last four visits to Osasuna under Ancelotti (3W, 1D).

Prediction: Osasuna 0-2 Real Madrid
