Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has been vindicated in his decision to wait for Kylian Mbappé, rather than signing Victor Osimhen.
The Spanish giants were linked with a move for the Napoli striker last summer, but were put off by the Italian club’s €130 million asking price.
Pérez was adamant that he would only pay that kind of money for Mbappé, and he was proved right when the French forward joined Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.
Osimhen has had a mixed season for Napoli, scoring 18 goals in 32 appearances. However, he has failed to convince many that he is worth €130 million.
In contrast, Mbappé has been in scintillating form for Real Madrid, scoring 21 goals in 31 appearances. He has also been instrumental in the team’s rise to the top of La Liga and the Champions League quarter-finals.
With Mbappé in their team, Real Madrid are now genuine contenders for both trophies. They have a squad that is capable of winning both competitions, and they will be even stronger next season.
