Real Madrid know their five potential quarterfinal opponents

The UEFA Champions League round of 16 is almost over, and five teams have already joined Real Madrid in the next round.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team eliminated RB Leipzig in a tie that was closer than expected, but now they are focused on the quarterfinals.

“The psychological aspect was very important,” Ancelotti said after the match against Leipzig. “We played against a quality team with nothing to lose. And we played with the handbrake on from the start. We suffered, but the important thing was to be in the quarterfinals.”

With the quarterfinals in sight, Real Madrid could face any of the other seven qualified clubs, although five names are already known.

Manchester City, Bayern Munich, PSG, Barcelona and Arsenal are the teams that will join the Merengues in the draw for the next round of the top UEFA club competition, pending the outcome of the matches between Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven, and Atlético de Madrid and Inter Milan.

Carlo Ancelotti and his players will find out their opponent this Friday, when luck will decide the path that the Madrid club will take towards the 15th.

This will be a pure draw, so there will be no restrictions, although all eyes will be on a possible duel between Real Madrid and PSG or Barcelona.

The Madrid squad, in this sense, does not have any preference, as they are aware that to win the UEFA Champions League you have to beat the best, although they would prefer to close the tie at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
