Kylian Mbappé is one of the most marketable athletes in the world. Now that he is set to join the biggest club in the world, his brand is only going to continue to grow exponentially.
According to Okdiario, Nike is considering creating a signature line for Mbappé, similar to those of Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Rafa Nadal. This would all come in the context of a contract renewal, as the player is currently signed to the brand until June 30, 2029, but they would like to extend him for more years and with better conditions.
The same outlet indicates that Nike’s intention is to prevent Adidas, the brand that sponsors Real Madrid, from being the one that benefits the most from Mbappé’s signing with the club, as happened in 2009 with the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.
It should be noted that Real Madrid is sponsored by Adidas, and the fact that Kylian Mbappé will wear the white shirt will generate many benefits for the brand.
Everybody wins
However, with Kylian Mbappé joining Real Madrid, all parties benefit. On the one hand, Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé, and on the other hand Adidas and Nike, because by further enhancing the image of the player, all benefits are increased.
Then, logically, being competitors, Nike and Adidas will try to “fight” to get the maximum benefits for the player. However, the partnership between Kylian Mbappé and Nike is not in danger. The agreement they have signed until 2029 has several clauses that make it very difficult for the Frenchman to break it.
