Serie A: Udinese upset Lazio in Rome thanks to Kamara’s heroics

Relegation-threatened Udinese pulled off a stunning 2-1 victory away at Lazio, boosting their hopes of staying in Serie A for another season.

Lazio started strong, with Mattia Zaccagni and Luis Alberto threatening Udinese’s goal early on. However, the visitors weathered the storm and began to create chances of their own. Hassane Kamara was a key figure for Udinese, causing problems for Lazio’s defense throughout the match.

Just after halftime, Kamara whipped in a dangerous cross that Lorenzo Lucca met with a well-placed finish to put Udinese surprisingly ahead. The lead was short-lived, as Lazio equalized two minutes later through an unfortunate own goal by Udinese’s Lautaro Giannetti.

Udinese takes the lead again

Udinese didn’t give up and kept pushing forward. Their persistence paid off a few minutes later when Oier Zarraga slotted the ball past Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel to regain the lead.

Lazio pressed for an equalizer in the second half, but Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye made a couple of crucial saves to deny Manuel Lazzari and substitute Gustav Isaksen. Udinese also had a chance to extend their lead through Nehuén Pérez, but his header went wide. Despite Pérez being sent off for a second yellow card in stoppage time, Udinese held on to secure a vital three points.

Hassane Kamara’s tireless work ethic and attacking threat down the left flank were instrumental in Udinese’s victory. He was deservedly named Man of the Match by Flashscore.

The win ended Udinese’s four-game winless run, while Lazio’s struggles continued as they lost their fifth game in their last six in all competitions. This result puts pressure on Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri.
