Joao Cancelo, who is currently on loan at Barcelona from Manchester City, has made it clear that he does not want to return to the English club.

The Portuguese international has been in impressive form for Barcelona since joining in January, making 31 appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals. He has also provided four assists.

“My future? I don’t know my future yet, but I would like to stay at Barcelona,” Cancelo told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

However, a permanent move to Barcelona for Cancelo could be difficult. The Catalan club did not include an option to buy in the loan deal, and they are unlikely to be able to afford his transfer fee.

Cancelo also spoke about his time in Italy, where he played for Inter Milan and Juventus.

“I had a wonderful experience in Italy,” he said. “For myself, on the pitch, for my family, and off the pitch. I know that Inter fans didn’t like my transfer to Juventus, and I’m sorry because I made a lot of friends in Milan. On a human level, Italy is a country closer to Portugal than I met during my European tour. I was really happy to go through it.”
