Serie A: Roma rescue dramatic late point against Fiorentina

Roma continued their remarkable turnaround under manager De Rossi with a thrilling 2-2 draw against Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The Giallorossi, fresh off a convincing win over Brighton in Europe, started strong with Lukaku testing the Fiorentina goalkeeper early. However, Fiorentina grew into the game and took the lead midway through the first half thanks to a headed goal by Ranieri from a corner.

Fiorentina looked dominant for much of the first half, creating several chances and keeping Roma’s attack quiet. The pressure nearly paid off again with a header from Sottil just before halftime.

The second half was a see-saw affair. Roma started brightly with Cristante forcing a save and then equalizing through a deflected header by Aouar. Just as it seemed Roma were taking control, Fiorentina retook the lead through a well-worked goal finished by Mandragora.

With the clock ticking down, Fiorentina had a golden opportunity to seal the win when Belotti was brought down in the penalty area. However, Biraghi’s penalty was saved by Svilar, keeping Roma in the game.

In a dramatic finale, Roma snatched a point in the dying seconds. A long ball found its way to Llorente, who expertly volleyed past the goalkeeper to send the Roma fans into ecstasy.

The draw extends Roma’s unbeaten run away from home to two months, while Fiorentina’s struggles continue with just two wins in their last ten Serie A matches.

Man of the Match: Andrea Belotti (Fiorentina) – Despite missing the penalty, Belotti was a constant threat for Fiorentina’s attack.
