Manchester City emerge as favorites to sign Joshua Kimmich

Manchester City have emerged as the favorites to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to reports from Fichajes. Despite being 29 years old, Kimmich has once again been a key player for Bayern in the 2023-24 season, featuring in 29 games across all competitions and contributing with one goal and six assists.

Although the German international has a contract at the Allianz Arena until the summer of 2025, there is much speculation about his future. Kimmich is rumored to be looking for a new challenge at this stage of his career, and a move to the Premier League seems attractive to the midfielder.

While Liverpool and Barcelona have shown interest in the player, journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Manchester City are currently leading the race to secure his signing. With Bayern reportedly worried about losing Kimmich on a free transfer next year, an exit during the next transfer window is a possibility.

Bayern could lose one of their stars

In the current Bundesliga season, Kimmich has contributed one goal and three assists in 18 appearances, while in the Champions League he has provided two assists in eight games. Since joining Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2015, Kimmich has accumulated 376 appearances in all competitions, scoring 41 goals and providing 100 assists.

With 20 trophies to his name, including eight Bundesliga titles and the Champions League, Kimmich has been a prominent figure in Bayern’s successes. Although the Munich team is still in contention for more titles this season, sitting second in the Bundesliga 10 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, Kimmich’s future could be away from the Allianz Arena as he moves towards a new challenge in his career.
