Barcelona is reportedly interested in Mikel Arteta as a potential replacement for Xavi Hernandez, who announced his departure at the end of the season.
The Catalan club has been on the lookout for a new manager since Xavi’s announcement, with names like Jurgen Klopp, Hansi Flick, Thomas Tuchel, and Roberto De Zerbi being mentioned. However, none of these leads have been particularly concrete.
According to Relevo, Barcelona has now contacted the entourage of Mikel Arteta, the 41-year-old manager of Arsenal. The Spanish outlet claims that the deal would be very complicated to pull off, as Arteta has a contract with Arsenal until June 2025.
Arteta himself has recently spoken about his commitment to Arsenal.
“I’m in the right place, with the right people, and I feel good,” he said in late January. “There’s still a lot to do.”
Barcelona will be aware of Arteta’s contract situation and his recent comments. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to convince him to leave Arsenal and take over at Camp Nou.
đŹ “Coming to this ground is always very difficult. And the team, again, showed a high level of performance – of desire, of quality, and Iâm really pleased, obviously.”
