Barcelona are sweating over the fitness of Lamine Yamal ahead of their Champions League clash with Napoli.
The young forward has been struggling with a knee injury and missed the pre-season game against Getafe as a result. He also started on the bench against Athletic Bilbao last weekend, but was forced to come on just before half-time following Pedri’s injury.
Barca are taking no risks with Yamal and are treating his injury with the utmost caution. The club’s medical staff are confident that he will be fit for the Napoli game, but they will not rush him back into action.
Yamal has been a revelation for Barca this season. He has broken into the first team and has made 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing seven assists.
He is the second-most used player in the squad, behind only Ilkay Gundogan, and has started more games than Pedri, Gavi, and Ansu Fati.
Yamal is a key player for Barca and they will need him to be fit if they are to beat Napoli and reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
