Man of the Match: Matteo Darmian (8)
Darmian was impeccable on the right flank, and he also unlocked the situation for Inter with a good reading of the game that allowed him to surprise the Atalanta defense. Inter cruised to victory and are now seriously on their way to winning the Scudetto.
Inter (3-5-2):
Sommer (6): He had practically nothing to do tonight against a very quiet opposition attack.
Pavard (5): He made a few mistakes that could have been costly, but fortunately for him, they had no consequences.
De Vrij (6): Clean and attentive tonight, he didn’t let anything through.
Bastoni (5): Not always in the right place tonight, he took a few risks that his opponent tonight failed to exploit.
Darmian (8): See above. He was replaced by Dumfries at the start of the second half.
Barella (6): He had an interesting game and put in a lot of energy tonight to control the midfield, which was largely in Inter’s favor.
Asllani (7): Particularly solid tonight, he had a very good performance and recovered many balls that prevented Atalanta from playing their game. He was replaced by Frattesi in the 62nd minute, who scored the fourth goal before coming off injured for Klaassen in the 73rd minute.
Dimarco (6.5): He constantly created danger on his side and ended up converting Lautaro’s missed penalty, thus extinguishing any hope for Atalanta to come back into the game. He was replaced by Carlos Augusto in the 69th minute.
Arnautovic (5): Despite his undeniable good intentions, he never managed to make the difference tonight, too well watched by his opponent.
Lautaro (7.5): It was a superb goal from him that sealed the deal tonight just before halftime. He missed the chance to score the third goal of the game, but it was of no consequence. He was replaced by Alexis Sanchez in the 68th minute.
Atalanta (3-4-2-1):
Carnesecchi (4): He had a hard time avoiding the sinking ship tonight and is guilty of a few mistakes that cost dearly.
Scalvini (5): He did what he could to contain Inter’s attacks and had a few moments of grace, but could not change the score. He was replaced by Hien in the 58th minute.
Djimsiti (6): Despite his team’s heavy defeat, he put in a solid performance and managed to limit the danger posed by Arnautovic, who was almost invisible.
Kolasinac (5): He put a lot of energy into countering Inter’s attacks tonight but had to give way to a compact and hungry team. He was replaced by Bakker in the 58th minute.
Hateboer (4): He lost his duel with Lautaro on the second goal and failed to provide solidity in midfield. He is also the one who caused the penalty for Inter.
Pasalic (5): Despite some good initiatives in the first half, he had to quickly abandon and participate in the defensive phase.
Ederson (4): He made too many mistakes tonight and was too lightweight against a much more structured Inter side that didn’t give him a chance.
Zappacosta (4.5): A few good actions that brought danger at the very beginning of the match, and then not much else. He struggled to keep up with the pace imposed by Inter.
Miranchuk (4.5): He had a hard time finding his place tonight and had almost no influence. Lookman replaced him in the 57th minute.
Koopmeiners (4): He didn’t weigh much either against a team that knew perfectly how to control him. He lacked inventiveness and never endangered Inzaghi’s men. He was replaced by Adopo in the 57th minute.
De Ketelaere (5): He found the back of the net at the very beginning of the match, which was ultimately not validated. He then gradually faded out of the game. He was replaced by Toure in the 76th minute.
