FC Bayern Munich – RB Leipzig (2-1): Player Ratings

Man of the Match: M. Neuer (8): What a game from the world champion! He was decisive with 5 saves that kept Bayern alive and helped them win the game. His stop against Sesko (61′) was out of this world. Thanks to him, Bayern won the match tonight. At his age, he shows that he is still far from retirement!

FC Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1)

M. Neuer (8): See above

J. Kimmich (5): Replaced at right-back for the rest of the season, the Bayern captain was very important defensively and in the build-up with only one misplaced pass. He was less effective offensively, but it is thanks in large part to his defensive performance that Bayern won tonight.

M. De Ligt (5): A good game for the Dutchman, no mistakes, good in the build-up with 97% success and only 2 balls lost, he had few interceptions to make. He was booked (59′).

E. Dier (6): Great defensive game from the Englishman, Bayern’s surprise winter signing was very important in this victory, he managed to contain Openda, a little less precise in the build-up compared to his central defensive partner. He was at the origin of a long cross that led to Kane’s decisive goal (90′).

R. Guerreiro (6): Very interesting on his left side, the Portuguese full-back played a good defensive game but especially a great offensive game like a piston. Very good in his passing and crossing, the former French league player shows that he will be a Bayern regular at the end of this season.

A. Pavlović (5.5): Author of a good first half, the Bavarian revelation had a good first half but was much more in difficulty in the second half. He was very precise in his passing with only 4 missed passes, he lost few balls but he still suffered the pressure of the Leipzig midfielders in the second half, he was booked (38′). He was replaced by Kim (81′).

L. Goretzka (5.5): A good game for his return to midfield, he was good in the offensive contribution but a little less defensively with few duels won. He was important in the build-up and in the forward projection of his team.

L. Sané (4): A complicated game offensively for Sané, author of many technical errors in the last 20 meters, he often played solo and forgot his teammates. However, he was generous in his defensive efforts in the first half. He was replaced by Tel (64′)

T. Müller (5.5): The eternal Thomas Müller had a decent game tonight, very accurate in his passing with very few turnovers, he was a poison for the Leipzig defense especially in the first half. He was replaced by Laimer (64′)

J. Musiala (6): Great game from the German nugget, he was twirling as usual in his role as left winger. He was precise in his passing with notably a sublime pass for Sané in depth which was wasted by the former City player (34′). He was replaced by Choupo-Moting (84′).

H. Kane (7): It’s a real goalscorer’s game today for the English serial scorer, he had very few balls to play in the box but the only ones he played hit the target. First, after a magnificent pass from Musiala, he fires the Saxon cage at close range (56′). He becomes the savior of a whole people at the very end of the match after a great work by Choupo Moting who sends him a beautiful one in the middle of the box, Kane fires a volley that lodges in the small net of the opponent, what a crazy goal (90′)!

RB Leipzig (4-2-2-2)

J. Blaswich (6): The Saxon goalkeeper made two very important saves in the first half against Kane and Sané, but he could do nothing about Bayern’s two goals tonight.

B. Henrichs (5): The former Monaco player had an average game tonight. He was not very effective in the build-up and in the offensive contribution, but he was good defensively despite the many runs of Musiala and Guerreiro to bring danger into the box.

M. Simakan (6.5): Huge game from the French international hopeful. Replaced in central defense due to the absence of Klosterman, he did everything to keep his team alive with many decisive interventions against Kane and Musiala. One wonders how the French coach has not yet selected him for the A team. A boss performance tonight despite the defeat.

W. Orban (4.5): A little less effective than his French counterpart, he was responsible for two very bad defensive placements on Bayern’s two goals, leaving Kane and Choupo-Moting in the game. It’s a pity for the Hungarian, who was not as bad as that in the interceptions.

D. Raum (5): Not very effective offensively on his left side, he was still effective defensively against Sané and Tel. He had a similar game to Henrichs on his right side. He was replaced by Lukeba (90′).

A. Haidara (6): Good game from the Malian midfielder. We saw a very good fight between the two Saxon midfielders and the two Bavarian midfielders. Very precise in his passing, he lost few balls in the heart of the game. He won almost all of his duels. He was replaced by Kampl (74′).

X. Schlager (5.5): The Austrian was effective in midfield, strong as usual, he fought a real battle against Goretzka and Pavlovic. He was booked (67′).

D. Olmo (5): The Spaniard had a mixed game with a bad first half, but he had a better second half with an assist for the scorer Sesko (70′).

X. Simons (5.5): Like Musiala, he was a poison for the Bayern defenders thanks to his many devastating dribbles. The Dutchman was in great form in the first half and a little more in difficulty in the second. He was replaced at the very end of the match by the new signing Elmas (89′).

B. Šeško (6): The Slovenian scored tonight and was rewarded for a good game. He was very present offensively and in keeping the ball, he was important in a pivot role with few missed passes. The Saxon phenomenon responded to Kane with a shot deflected by Goretzka (70′). He was replaced by Baumgartner (90′).

L. Openda (5): Frustrating game for the former Lens player, muzzled by the Bayern defense, he tried to create openings with his many dribbles. However, he lost very few balls and was interesting in keeping the ball, he just missed a big chance in front of goal to reward his great energy expenditure. He was replaced by Poulsen (73′).
