Achraf Hakimi reacts to rumors linking him with a return to Real Madrid

Achraf Hakimi, the Paris Saint-Germain right-back, has reacted to rumors linking him with a return to Real Madrid.

“It’s the club of my life, my home… but right now there’s nothing,” the Moroccan international said.

Hakimi came through the youth ranks at Real Madrid and made his first-team debut under Zinedine Zidane in 2017. However, he struggled to break into the starting lineup ahead of Dani Carvajal and was eventually sold to Borussia Dortmund in 2020.

Hakimi has since established himself as one of the best right-backs in the world at Dortmund and PSG. He is now reportedly on Real Madrid’s radar as a potential replacement for Carvajal, who is 30 years old.

“It’s obvious that I would love to share a dressing room with Kylian Mbappé at the best club in the world,” Hakimi said. “But as I said, right now there’s nothing. Real Madrid are focused on strengthening the left-back position and analyzing what to do with the center-backs. They consider the right-back position to be covered until 2025.”

Hakimi, however, has not given up hope of one day returning to Real Madrid.

“I’m not losing hope that at some point in my career I will have the opportunity to return to Real Madrid, the biggest club in the history of football,” he said.
