Could Thibaut Courtois make a sensational return for Real Madrid this season after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture earlier in the campaign?

On August 10, the news broke that Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had suffered a cruciate ligament and meniscus tear. The worst possible injury for a footballer, it was expected to keep the Belgian international out for months, prompting his club to sign Spanish stopper Kepa on loan from Chelsea as a replacement.

Since mid-August, the Red Devils goalkeeper has been patiently biding his time and working hard behind the scenes, and it seems his progress has been remarkable.

Courtois back in April?

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, while some predictions had already ruled him out for the rest of the season, the former Atletico Madrid man could be back sooner than expected. His coach Carlo Ancelotti is even hoping to have him available for the final sprint, i.e. from the end of April. The training staff are so surprised by his progress that they sometimes prefer to slow down his sessions for fear of a relapse, as he is well ahead of schedule.

This news should put a smile on the faces of the Merengue fans, as the Belgian has been a key figure in their title triumphs in recent years.
