Real Madrid still keen on signing Erling Haaland in 2025

Real Madrid‘s pursuit of Kylian Mbappé this summer does not mean they have given up on signing Erling Haaland. Sport reports that the Norwegian striker remains high on Florentino Pérez’s list of priorities, and the club could make a move for him in 2025 with the aim of forming a dream attacking trio alongside Vinicius and Mbappé.

However, any move for Haaland will depend on the club’s financial situation next year. The signings of Mbappé and Ryan Gravenberch, if confirmed, will put a strain on the club’s finances, although the income generated by the new stadium after five years of renovations will help to offset this.

Real Madrid have a good relationship with Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimienta, and Florentino Pérez admires her philosophy: “If one of my players tomorrow can’t stand being there anymore because he doesn’t like it, or he’s not paid well, or because his wife wants to live in Paris? Well, he leaves, doesn’t he? I don’t like it when my player is not free to decide.”

This suggests that Real Madrid would be open to signing Haaland if he wants to join the club.

Manchester City have been trying to renegotiate the striker’s contract for some time. Haaland’s camp have leaked that his release clause next summer is 175 million euros, a figure that will drop in 2025. He is contracted until 2027, and the English club are trying to tie him down to a new deal to prevent him from leaving. However, Real Madrid are closely monitoring the ongoing investigation into City for allegedly breaking financial regulations, which could make it easier for Haaland to leave the club.
