The search for Kylian Mbappé’s successor at PSG is sure to be a hot topic this summer. In Italy, Victor Osimhen (SSC Napoli) and Rafael Leao (AC Milan) are mentioned, while in the United Kingdom (particularly in the Daily Mail), Marcus Rashford is the latest name to be added to the list of potential candidates. The English international from Manchester United has been linked with the capital club in the past, so the rumor mill is once again in full swing.
The return of the Rashford to PSG rumor
Rightly or wrongly, time will tell, but in the meantime let’s take a look at the figures surrounding the 26-year-old player who has never played for a club other than Manchester United. He turned professional in 2016 and has since become a key player for the Red Devils. He has been extended several times, the last one at the beginning of this season 2023-2024, and he is now under contract until the end of the 2027-2028 season.
A market valuation that goes from single to double
The four seasons he has left are valued differently by market valuation specialists. In his case, it’s almost from single to double, from Transfermarkt’s €70 million estimate to the CIES Football Observatory’s €136.2 million. In between, there is Football Benchmark KPMG, at €85.6 million. In terms of salary, he flirts with €1.5 million gross per month, more or less depending on the exchange rate of the pound sterling to the euro.
What does this mean for PSG?
It’s still too early to say whether Rashford will be the next Mbappé. However, the figures surrounding him suggest that he would be a significant investment for PSG. The club would have to pay a hefty transfer fee, and Rashford’s salary would be among the highest at the club.
But if PSG are looking for a world-class attacker to replace Mbappé, Rashford could be the perfect option. He is young, talented, and has the potential to be one of the best players in the world.
