According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Napoli are on the verge of dismissing Walter Mazzarri as their head coach.
Mazzarri has only been in charge for three months, having replaced Rudi Garcia in October 2022.
The Italian has struggled to improve Napoli’s fortunes, with the team currently sitting ninth in Serie A, 27 points behind leaders Inter Milan.
Napoli have reportedly reached an agreement with Slovakian coach Francesco Calzona to take over as Mazzarri’s replacement.
Calzona is currently the head coach of the Slovakia national team, but he has previously worked at Napoli in two different spells, in 2015 and 2021.
The 54-year-old is seen as a safe pair of hands by Napoli, who are looking for someone to steady the ship and guide them to a respectable finish in Serie A.
Calzona is also familiar with the Napoli squad, having worked with many of the players during his previous stints at the club.
