Metz fans call for Bölöni resignation after ninth straight winless match

The pressure is mounting on Laszlo Bölöni after his Metz side slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Montpellier on Sunday. The loss means that Metz have now gone nine matches without a win, and their fans are starting to lose patience.

Bölöni was interrupted by his own fans during his post-match press conference, with some chanting for his resignation. The 71-year-old Hungarian coach admitted that he understood the fans’ frustration, but he insisted that he is still the right man to lead the club.

“Their frustration is no greater than mine,” Bölöni said. “I am the first to be disappointed with the results. But I am still the coach of this team, and I will continue to work hard to get us out of this situation.”

Metz are currently 17th in Ligue 1, just two points above the relegation zone. They have a tough run of games coming up, with matches against Lille, Lyon, and Monaco in their next five games.

Bölöni will need to find a way to turn things around quickly, or he could be facing the sack.
