Serie A: Inter hammer Salernitana in dominant display, extend Serie A lead

Inter Milan cruised to a resounding 4-0 victory over Salernitana, temporarily stretching their lead at the top of Serie A to 10 points. The win also marked their 18th consecutive league match unbeaten, solidifying their position as favorites for the Scudetto.

Salernitana, currently residing at the bottom of the table, never stood a chance against the Nerazzurri juggernaut. Inter wasted no time asserting their dominance, with both Marcus Thuram and Nicolò Barella hitting the woodwork in the opening minutes. However, the inevitable goals arrived soon after, courtesy of Thuram and Lautaro Martínez, the latter surpassing Mauro Icardi as Inter’s eighth all-time top scorer.

Denzel Dumfries added a third before the break, capitalizing on Ochoa’s parry from a Triantafyllos Pasalidis deflection. The second half followed a similar pattern, with Ochoa making saves but Salernitana failing to register a single shot on target. Inter put the icing on the cake in the dying minutes with a Marko Arnautović goal assisted by Dumfries.

The result was never in doubt, but it further highlights Inter’s incredible form and makes them overwhelming favorites for the title. Fabio Liverani, Salernitana’s new manager, faces a daunting task ahead, but they can draw hope from their miraculous escape last season.

Man of the Match: Carlos Augusto’s involvement in both Inter’s opening goals earned him the Flashscore Man of the Match award. His energetic performance from full-back proved a constant threat to the Salernitana defense.
