Bayern Munich and Alphonso Davies at an impasse in contract negotiations

The recent string of poor results at Bayern Munich seems to be causing a notable change in their salary policy. According to reports from Bild, the leadership of the Bavarian club has concluded that they have been too permissive in terms of the salary increases granted to their players in recent years. This decision will have direct repercussions on the future of the talented Alphonso Davies.

The Canadian full-back, who is a target for Real Madrid, has requested an annual salary of €13 million, plus performance-based bonuses, to renew his contract beyond 2025. His agent, Nedal Husoeh, has already conveyed these demands to the club, but Bayern remain firm in their position of not giving in to such demands.

Faced with this situation, as reported by ‘Kicker’, Bayern Munich have made it clear that they will not change their minds. If Davies does not adjust his salary expectations, the club would be willing to consider selling him next summer.

Meanwhile, the player continues his recovery process after suffering a ligament injury in his left knee. Davies recently returned to the field to participate in a physical training session supervised by the club’s coaching staff.

Although he will miss the next match against Bochum, the 23-year-old full-back is determined to do everything possible to return to the squad for the match against Leipzig the following weekend. Davies’ determination to recover and his commitment to the team are evident, despite the uncertainty surrounding his contractual future.

Real Madrid Lurking

Davies’ situation reflects a new, more restrictive salary policy on the part of Bayern Munich, who are looking to maintain a financial balance and avoid excesses in their players’ salaries. It is worth noting that Real Madrid are on the trail of the Canadian full-back and it seems that they already have a verbal agreement with him. Therefore, all this could be a pressure move by the player to make the German club feel ‘obliged’ to listen to offers for him next summer.
