Fiorentina vs Frosinone preview: Fiorentina look to end winless streak at home to Frosinone

Fiorentina suffered their worst Serie A experience of the season last weekend, losing 3-2 at Lecce after conceding two goals after the 90th minute. The result not only extended their winless run in the league to four games (1D, 3L) but also moved them further away from the Champions League qualification race. The gap to the top four is now five points ahead of this matchday.

It is a far cry from where the Viola were at the start of 2024, when they were part of that top four. Getting back to winning ways at the Stadio Artemio Franchi would go a long way towards closing that gap, but Fiorentina have failed to win two consecutive home league games (1D, 1L). However, turning things around against Frosinone looks tricky based on recent history, as Vincenzo Italiano’s men have failed to win any of their last four home games against them (3D, 1L).

Frosinone also in need of a win

Like their opponents, visitors Frosinone also lost 3-2 last weekend, conceding two late goals against AC Milan. The manner in which they threw away the lead typifies their recent struggles: the promoted side have won just one of their last 10 Serie A matches (2D, 7L).

Previously comfortable in mid-table, Eusebio Di Francesco’s men may have started looking over their shoulders in recent weeks, as they were only five points above the relegation zone before this matchday. The return to away action is a daunting task, as Frosinone are yet to win a Serie A away game this season, and their tally of three points (3D, 8L) is the worst of any team in the league.

Key Players: Lucas Beltrán and Matías Soulé

Fiorentina’s Lucas Beltrán took his goal tally to seven in all competitions this season with his strike last weekend. Four of those goals have come in the opening 10 minutes. For Frosinone, Matías Soulé reached double figures for Serie A goals on Saturday. However, his team have always lost the three games in which he has scored away from home.

Hot stat: Both teams have scored in 18 of Frosinone’s 23 Serie A games this season – the highest rate in the league.
