Former Spain, Real Madrid, and Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui has emerged as the favorite to replace Stefano Pioli at AC Milan, should the Italian leave his post at the end of the season, according to Todofichajes.
Despite being out of the race for the 2023-24 Serie A title, AC Milan still have trophy aspirations this season, as they remain in contention in the Europa League. However, reports in recent months have suggested that Pioli could be nearing the end of his tenure if the Rossoneri finish the season without silverware.
Lopetegui has been out of work since his short stint in the Premier League with Wolves, where he guided the club to a 13th-place finish after taking over when they were bottom of the table in November 2022.
Lopetegui has recently turned down lucrative offers from the Middle East, including one from Al-Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League, who opted to appoint Argentine Marcelo Gallardo in mid-November.
