Borussia Mönchengladbach will be looking to end their three-match winless run in the Bundesliga (1D, 2L) when they host bottom side Darmstadt this weekend.
Gladbach’s last two games have come against the top two, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, so they will be looking forward to a much easier game on paper.
Darmstadt have lost their last three games without scoring, and are seven points adrift of safety. They have not won in their last 13 league games (4D, 9L), and it is becoming increasingly difficult to make a case for their survival.
Gladbach have only lost one of their last nine home games in all competitions (6W, 2D), and they will be confident of getting back to winning ways here. However, they have only won one of their league games against teams below them in the table this season (1W, 2D, 2L), and have conceded at least two goals in four of those games, including in both of their last two home meetings with Darmstadt (1W, 1D).
Darmstadt have struggled to score goals of late, and they have failed to find the net in their last four Bundesliga outings (1D). They are one of only two teams in the Bundesliga who have never kept a clean sheet away from home this season.
Players to watch: Jordan Siebatcheu started Darmstadt’s comeback in the reverse fixture, scoring the first of his four goals this season. Defender Matej Maglica, who has been booked in two of his last four games and scored before being sent off against Gladbach in September, will be tasked with stopping him.
Hot stat: 16 of Gladbach’s 20 Bundesliga games this season (80%) have seen both teams score, the second-highest total in the league.
